In the Boys' tournament, the first 20 players in the points table are now 'on sale' and each of the five new captains will have €115 million to spend on four players (maximum spend on one player is €100 million, minimum is €5 million). The market offers some tempting opportunities! Niccolò, top scorer and best player, will surely be an expensive buy and anyone looking to shore up their defence will need to shell out a pretty penny to get Elias F in their team. Cristian looks like being the most expensive G6 player on the market and the signatures of Alex, Manfredi and Giuseppe will also be hotly contested.

ANSPI: Ambrit u13s make it 5 Wins out of 5!

Fooling around before the game but then they got serious!
After winning their 5th match on the trot, Ambrit sit proudly at the top of the table as we head into the Christmas break!
In this latest match against the league's bottom-placed side, Coach Moses juggled things around a bit and started with Pietro, Alex and Ludovico in defense, Elias in midfield and Giorgio and Tommaso up front. Giacomo subbed in for Eric as goalie when he got injured and Joel went in for Tommaso.
The first goal was an own goal by the opposing goalkeeper who panicked when Tommaso crossed the ball to the center of the area. Ambrit managed to lose the ball in defense to allow Guadalupe to make it 1-1. This woke up the Ambrit team, who went on to score goal after goal. Giacomo off an Alex assist, Tommaso with a shot from outside the box, Pietro with two goals in a row and then another own goal. A free kick from halfway by Alex went straight in and the last goal came from a corner taken by Joel to Alex, who shot to the corner of the goal.

SCARABOCCHIO (under 11): Ambrit 3-3 Casaletto
Our team played hard and as a team this Saturday. After an early wake up call early in the first period, we buckled down and did not lose our determination. We were rewarded with a great tap-in goal that showed our will to get to the ball first. We always tried to be positive with the ball and looked for our teammates ahead of us on the pitch. We rotated seamlessly and were rewarded twice with great team goals that were finished cooly. We held on for the tie and learned a lot about concentration and getting to the ball first. We are a tough bunch to beat!

GIRLS' FINAL: Portland Timbers 2-1 NY Red Bulls

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Lucrezia 6, Annie 5, Allegra 3, Allison 3, Lucy 2, Donya 2, Virginia 1, Gea 1.

THIRD PLACE FINAL: Lazio 3-2 Roma

A fantastic, action-packed game of football at Ambrit stadium today to close out the first Intramural tournament of the year.
Lazio sprang into an early lead when Michele cut inside from the left and swept a curling right-foot shot into the net.
Both teams fought to control the game in midfield. Lapo, Alessandro N and Tommaso C combined well today for Roma and they created lots of chances. Saverio should probably have finished off Tommy's pass from the right but he screwed it wide of the post. Ale N carved himself a good chance shortly afterwards but his well-struck shot crashed down off the crossbar and Giacomo managed to fumble the ball away.
Then Tommy C made a good run through the Lazio defence and, just as he was lining up to shoot, he was cynically stopped by a push from Andrea. Red card for Andrea, free kick for Roma; Tommy passed to Gavyn when the whole stadium expected a shot but he took Gavyn by surprise too and the ball went wide.
Meanwhile, Ale Z and Cristian were everywhere and kept Guillermo and Michele well supplied with passes from the back. One of these was laid inside from Guillermo to Michele and he pit Lazio 2-0 up, this time with a left foot shot that was slightly deflected.
But Gavyn made up for his earlier miss two minutes later. Played in by Tommy C, he slotted the ball home despite a last minute lunge from Ale Z.
Tension increased: Roma attacked, Lazio defended... and Lapo scored...2-2 with just 2 minutes on the clock!
As Roma's celebrations continued, Lazio kicked off. The ball came to Cristian on the left. He cut inside and struck the ball home with his right foot into the bottom left corner.
Roma threw everything into the last attack but time ran out and Lazio will take the bronze medals next week!
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Ale N 6, Michele 6, Tommy C 3, Ale Z 2, Cristian 2, Lapo 1, Gavyn 1

Portland Timbers 2-1 Toronto FC

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Allegra 5, Lucrezia 4, Mia 3, M.Carolina 3, Sofia DM 2, Natalie 2, Shosanna 1, Selina 1, Eleonora 1.

BOYS' FINAL: Inter 5 - 3 Juventus

Inter justified their position as pre-tournament favourites and swept aside the challenge of Juventus in today's final.
Daniel kept his head in front of goal to put the champions ahead but Pietro dP equalised shortly afterwards with a brave header past an onrushing Federico. Daniel stepped up to the plate again, this time with a beautifully-weighted assist to play in Jacopo for 2-1. Niccolo' scored his 11th goal of the season to make it 3-1 and Pietro once again retaliated for Juventus to keep them in touch.
Niccolo' and Daniel both scored again to keep Inter in front. Anthony fired a fantastic shot but Peter made a brilliant save and then got up quickly to save the follow-up shot too. Pietro completed his hat-trick but Juve ran out of time and Inter won the game and the title!
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Niccolo' 4, Peter 3, Pietro dP 3, Daniel 3, Jacopo 2, Anthony 2, Ottaviano 2, Giuseppe 2

BOYS FINAL: Wednesday, Morning Break

Juventus, bolstered by an in-form Giuseppe, approach Wednesday's final with confidence. Having eliminated Lazio in last week's semi-final with a powerful, physical performance that pressed their opponents into submission, they will look to ANSPI ace and school top-scorer Pietro dP to put the ball in the back of the net.
At the other end, Elias F has been the revelation of the tournament so far: Ambrit's ANSPI captain is second in the Best Player table with 22 points coming into the final match.

Inter have so far fully justified their position as the team that was voted tournament favourites in September's poll. Powered by Niccolo', who is top of both the Best Player and Top Scorer charts with 24 points and 10 goals, the 8F stalwart is probably the main reason that Inter have reached the final... but they are certainly not a one-man team. Federico has done well in goal; Peter has been a rock in defence; JacopoAlioune and Ottaviano have been improving with every game.

Derby Win Keeps Ambrit On Top!

Four matches, four victories!
In last night's double-header derby versus Vigna Pia, Ambrit's u13 team came out on top while Vigna Pia won the u11 match.
Alex D got us off to a great start with the first goal and Giacomo made it 2-0 after 7 minutes. Alex hit the third before the first interval and added two more in the second period to leave Ambrit in a comfortable 5-1 lead (Pietro scored the fourth).
Vigna Pia never gave up though and, when they made it 5-2, Ambrit had to dig deep to make sure that the game didn't slip away from them.
Alex added a sixth and Giacomo a seventh. Giacomo dedicated this last goal to the watching Mr Martin to wrap up the game in the best possible way! See our ANSPI pages here on the blog for latest Tables.

6.12.17

SEMI-FINAL: Lazio 1-3 Juventus

Lazio took an early lead but couldn't withstand constant Juve pressure and will have to settle for a Third Place play-off against derby rivals, Roma. Juve will take on Inter in the final.
Cristian's early free kick forced Bernardo into a save but Guillermo was on hand to dispatch the rebound.
Guillermo had a good chance to double the lead soon after but, this time, he missed and Juve scored on the break. Anthony played Pietro in and Il Mueller di Ambrit scored.
Juve's second goal was mired in controversy. Giuseppe took another long throw and referee Corcoran awarded a goal when Giacomo appeared to touch the ball before it went in. Lazio protested but the goal was given.
Shortly afterwards, Pietro made it 3-1 and then almost 4-1 but Giacomo made a fantastic save to keep him out.
Lazio threw caution to the wind for the last few minutes but they were unable to break down Juve's solid rearguard.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Elias 6, Giuseppe 5, Anthony 3, Andrea 2, Cristian 2, Pietro 1, Bernardo 1, Alessandro Z 1

5.12.17

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Matilde 7, Malena 3, Annie 5, Virginia 3, Gabeen 1, Clio 1, Linh 1

1.12.17

SEMI-FINAL: Inter 6-2 Roma

Inter did not betray their pre-match positions as favourites and ran out easy winners against Roma.
They rushed into an early three-goal lead through Niccolo' (2) and Ottaviano and then never looked likely to relinquish it.
Niccolo's third and Inter's fourth was nicely finished, a single turn from Niccolo' sending the goalkeeper and last defender the wrong way.
Tommaso C pulled one back for Roma and then missed another good chance immediately afterwards.  Saverio got onto the end of a Lapo pass to make it 4-2 but Jacopo, with the entire stadium telling him to pass the ball, did find Alioune to restore the three-goal lead.
Niccolo' made it 6-2.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Niccolò 7, Peter 3, Gavyn 2, Jacopo 2, Alioune 2, Ottaviano 1, Daniel 1, Ale N 1,  Tommaso C 1, Federico 1

29.11.17

Lazio 2-2 Inter

Two in-form teams served up a spectacular encounter at Ambrit Stadium today; a draw was a fair result.
Cristian opened the scoring very early on with a soundly-struck shot from a narrow angle on the left that took Peter by surprise. Inter responded quickly when Alioune found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He kept a cool head and slotted the ball past Giacomo.
The game now settled down, with both teams passing well, moving well and creating chances. Both goalkeepers played well too and the scoreline stayed at 1-1. Niccolo', who played very well today, could have put his team 2-1 up but his header went wide.
In fact it was Lazio who took the lead when The Maltese Falcon struck again with just 5 minutes left. Julian received the ball, swayed past a defender and calmly rolled the ball past an advancing Peter. Inter pushed forward again and forced Giacomo into two saves before Jacopo managed to salvage a point for Inter right at the death. Lots of players played well today and points could have been awarded to almost every player on the pitch. But, the ones who really stood out were....
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Niccolo 6, Cristian 5, Ale Z 4, Julian 1, Peter 1,  Alioune 1, Mateo 1, Ottaviano 1, Jacopo 1

ANSPI: Week 3

Aspiranti: AMBRIT 4-1 S. Michele Trigoria
Ambrit complely dominated the first period in the match vs Trigoria. Playing on their home pitch, Ambrit was taking shots from every angle. The defense pressed up and played most of the first period in midfield, giving Pietro the chance to make the perfect assist to Giacomo for 1-0.
Before the whistle, Trigoria managed to get through and have a few shots at our goal, but Eric's great saves kept us ahead.
Three wins on the trot for Ambrit's u13s!
Our second period was played more in defense than in attack and Ambrit conceded a goal when Trigoria pressed and a tired Ambrit was taken by suprise. Ambrit then saw one of their goals disallowed for a handball that only the referee saw. The tension on the pitch increased, and Ambrit was once again defending their goal.
In the third period, Ambrit was determined to win the game. A shot from outside the box by Alex put us 2-1 up. Pietro took a great ball from Giacomo and dribbled straight into the goal for 3-1. Our winning goal was a shot from Giacomo off an assist by Elias.

Juventus 4-10 Inter

With Giuseppe back in the team but missing Anthony and Bernardo, Juve suffered heavy defeat at the hands of Inter, missing Peter and Federico.
Niccolo 'scored an early hat-trick before Pietro lit a brief flame of hope for Juventus. But the scoreline quickly moved on with goals from Ottaviano and Niccolo 'making it 5-1. Giuseppe did not give in to take the score to 5-2. Then Jacopo scored with a header and Niccolo 'nabbed a fifth to make it 7-2. Daniel, 8-2, Giuseppe 8-3, Riccardo 8-4, Daniel 9-4 and Jacopo 10-4.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Niccolo 4, Ottaviano 4, Elias F 3, Mateo 3, Giuseppe 3, Jacopo 2, Daniel 2

22.11.17

Roma 0-5 Lazio

Sometimes the stats don't lie: with 71% possession, 15 shots, 9 on target and 5 goals, Lazio suddenly look to be favourites to lift the 2017 Autumn Intramural title.
Cristian was first on the scoresheet and can surely kiss goodbye to his pocket money for the next few weeks. Captain Zeta made it two and Cristian added a third after ten minutes.
Roma couldn't get into the game. Their individual play was efficiently smothered by coordinated Lazio pressure and, in possession, Lazio moved the ball quickly.
Giorgio gave options on the left, Guillermo and Michele were always available, Ale and Cristian won possession and distributed.
Michele scored to make it 4-0 and Giorgio added a fifth. Giacomo, called upon rarely, made a good save near the end.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Cristian 5, Ale Z 4, Gavyn 3, Michele 3, Guillermo 2, Giorgio 1, Tommaso C 1, Filippo 1, Cesare 1

Toronto FC 1-3 NY Red Bulls

With a clear victory over Toronto,  Red Bulls are forced to make the final victory of the autumn tournament: allison-led girls are full-rated and give the impression of being very aggressive and organized. In this case, the Toronto girls had to pay for it, who struggled, but after losing to Allison, they shortened the distance with Sofia and the rebound wave brought in the third and final goals of Newyorkers with Annie.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Sofia DM 7 ,  Annie 4, Allison 3, Mia 3, Natalie 1, Emma C 1, Virginia 1, Selina 1.

ANSPI, Week 2

ASPIRANTI (u13): S. Girolamo 1 - Ambrit 9
Ambrit were on fire for their second game of the league against S. Girolamo. Pietro scored 2 goals in the first 15 minutes of the match getting through their defenders with ease. Ambrit then relaxed a bit too much and, before the whistle, San Girolamo took advantage of our distracted defense line and made it 2-1.
Aspiranti (+ guest - ciao Filippo!): on fire this week
In the second period Giacomo subbed in for Mateo on the right and Giorgio went in for Ludovico in defense. Elias F kept our defense line tight with help from our midfielders, giving Giacomo and Pietro the chance to score 2 more goals. Ambrit continued to pressure San Girolamo, allowing Giacomo to score 2 more goals.
In the last period Ambrit played without Pietro and Tommaso took over the show, scoring three goals in a row.
Goalie- Eric; Defence- Ludovico, Elias, Giorgio; Midfield- Tommaso, Mateo, Joel; Forward Pietro, Giacomo

SCARABOCCHIO (u11): S. Michele Trigoria Verde 1 - Ambrit 5

Portland 3-0 LA Galaxy

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Lucrezia 8, Gaia DR 4, Gea 3, Matilde 2, Clio 2, Carolina 2.

ANSPI, Week 1

The ANSPI leagues began this week and Ambrit's teams got off to a mixed start.
u11: Ambrit 3-6 S. Girolamo
The u11 'Scarabocchio' team, playing together for the first time and without a fixed goalkeeper, came up against a San Girolamo team that were definitely more used to playing together.
Ambrit's players stuck to their task though and the result was never a foreglone conclusion. Goals from Nikos and Lorenzo (2) kept them in contention and it will be interesting to see how the team develops ast the season wears on.
Team: Santiago, Alberto, Lorenzo, Vittorio, Bernardo, Nikos, Carlo

u13: Ambrit 8-1 ADP Empire
Meanwhile, the u13 'Aspiranti' team swept into an early lead in their game and never looked back.
Some great dribbling and a direct pass from Giacomo found Joel twice for two easy shots on goal and Ambrit was up by 2 goals in the first five minutes of the match. Pietro, playing in midfield, saw an opportunity to shoot from outside the box for 3-0 and, right before the whistle, a tired ambrit conceded one for 3-1 at the break.

A winning start for Ambrit u13
In the second period Mateo, Tommaso and Giorgio subbed in for Joel, Gicomo and Ludovico. A free kick given to Ambrit saw Elias F take a long shot from midfield straight to the goal and Ambrit was now up 4-1.
Ambrit pressured well in this second half and, with fresh players in, we added 2 more goals from Tommaso, with Pietro assisting each one. Tommaso went for a third goal when Elias F took a corner and he slid the ball straight into the goal.
In the third period Ambrit played a more relaxed game and Mateo scored from a corner kick.
The final goal was an assist from Tommaso to Giacomo.
Team: Eric; Elias F - Elias EZ - Ludovico/Giorgio; Pietro, Giacomo, Mateo, Joel, Tommaso

10.11.17

Roma 1-0 Milan

A bad-tempered game remained goal-less until 3 minutes from the end when Tommaso C broke away and fired past Max for the winner.
Earlier Max had pulled off some good saves and, at the other end, Pietro did the same for Roma as both sides struggled for the upper hand.
Alex was, as usual, everywhere in defence and midfield but, without Manfredi, Ivan and Tommaso S struggled to impose themselves up front. Roma created more chances but it was not until Tommy's late effort that they made one count.
BEST PLAYER POINTS: Alex 7, Max 2, Ivan 2, Pietro T 2, Lapo 2, Lorenzo 2, Elias EZ, Paul, Tommaso, Jerry
RED CARD: Ale N (misses next game)

8.11.17

Lazio 8 - 2 Juventus

With Captain Giuseppe out injured, and Bernardo Louis and Theo also MIA, Juve never had a chance against a rampant Lazio.
Cristian opened the scoring in the first minute and added four more a the game progressed. Guillermo (2) and Andrea also made the score-sheet and Pietro and Antony replied for Juve.
Lazio used their two-man advantage well; good movement off the ball and crisp, early passing meant that they always had time and space going forward.

BEST PLAYER POINTS: Cristian 6,  Ale Z 4, Elias F 4, Pietro 1, Guillermo 2, Filippo 1, Michele 1, Anthony 1.

ANSPI

If you are in one of our ANSPI teams this year, then please check out the calendar, just published!

27.10.17

Milan 2-3 Inter

A typical derby match - tense and nervous - saw Milan lose their captain, the three points and their unbeaten record.
Daniel had the best chance early on to open the scoring but he shot over the bar with only the keeper to beat. Senai made amends a couple of minutes later and put i nerazzurri 1-0 ahead.
Manfredi led Milan back into attack but was stopped the first time at the last minute by a some good defensive work from Mateo (Manfredi booked) before coming back and scoring to make it 1-1.
With play swinging quickly from end to end, it looked like either team might score. Inter had more chances but Alex and Elias were strong in defence while first Paul and then Tommy played well in goal.
Ottaviano should have put Inter ahead but then Jacopo did, finishing off a good team move with quick feet to round the keeper.
But Milan came back again and Ivan's drive and determination were rewarded with a goal: 2-2. But this game never looked likely to finish in a draw and Daniel's winner, though cruel on a Milan team playing with just 6 players and without Jerry, awarded the three points to Inter, and probably fairly. Manfredi was sent off late in the game and will miss Milan's match against Roma.

BEST PLAYER POINTS: Alex 4, Ivan 4, Senai 4, Manfredi 3, Elias EZ 3, Tommaso 1, Niccolo 1, Daniel 1

26.10.17

NY Bulls 2-1 Portland Timbers

PLAYER OF THE MATCH POINTS:
Allison 8, Gabeen 4, Annie 3, GaiaDR 3, Lucrezia 1, Gea 1, Anyue 1

Lazio 3-5 Milan (Manfredi Show!)

Though weakened today by the suspension of two players, Lazio got off to a great start and fired themselves into an early two-goal lead through Giorgio and Julian.
But Milan, themselves short of players today, were rescued by their captain.
Manfredi's first goal was a scorcher, blasted in from 25 meters and unstoppable. He followed this up with two more well-placed shots and a brave header off an Alex free-kick to put Milan 4-2 up against a now-shellshocked Lazio. The biancocelesti kept trying, but attack after attack foundered on the rock that was Alex in defence.
Ivan scrambled a fifth for Milan; Cristian pulled one back.

BEST PLAYER POINTS: Manfredi 8, Alex 6, Cristian 4, Michele 1, Ivan 1, Giorgio 1

Inter 2-2 Roma

Inter dominated the game but couldn't turn possession into goals and, in the end, were lucky to rescue a point.
Tiberio made a couple of vital early saves but then made a crucial mistake when allowing his kick-out to be blocked by Niccolo', with the ball finishing up in the back of the net.
Roma woke up a little after this and managed to create a couple of chances through some good play from Tommy and Lorenzo. Tommaso was unlucky not to score when his shot crashed back off the bar.
Roma equalised late on when a good break saw Lapo in possession in midfield with options right and left. He chose the correct pass to Lorenzo wide on the right and Lorenzo banged it home.
Another good passing move from Roma two minutes later saw Ale N receive an inviting ball just outside the box and his angled drive gave the goalkeeper no chance. Unbelievably, Roma were now 2-1 up with just seconds to play... but seconds were all that Daniel needed to grab the late equaliser!

BEST PLAYER POINTS: Niccolo 6, Lorenzo 4, Gavyn 4, Tommaso 3, Daniel 2, Ottaviano 1, Alioune 1
